Georgia Maria Mavrikou is a Dietitian-Nutritionist, graduated from the department of Nutrition and Dietetics at Harokopio University of Athens, Greece. Georgia has obtained her MSc degree in Applied Nutrition and Dietetics, in Clinical Nutrition at Harokopio University. During her master thesis on "the effect of nutritional supplement of mastic gum on liver health of obese patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)" she was involved into the randomized clinical trial of MAST4HEALTH project and gained experience, especially in patient recruitment, nutritional counseling and handling of biological samples.

Georgia was secondeed to the department of Genomics and Health at Fundació per al Foment de la investigació Sanitária i Biomédica de la Comunitat Valenciana (FISABIO) for a 7 month period. She was involved in analysis of genome sequencing and genomics and especially in the metagenomic analysis of 16S RNA gene, supervised by Dr M. Pilar Francino, in order to evaluate the efficacy of Mastiha supplement in NAFLD/NASH patients on gut microbiota.

Moreover, Georgia was secondeed to the faculty of pharmacy at Institut National De La Sante Et De La Recherche Medicale (INSERM) for a 5 month period. She was involved in purification of intracellular RNA for RT-PCR and in quantification of expression of IL6, TNFa, IL1A and VEGF, supervised by Dr Sophie Visvikis-Siest.
